About ALIFDO....
Who is ALIFDO you may ask?
It all started with a bunch of lawyers, working at three different intergovernmental financial organisations in London, Washington and Bejing, who decided to create a non-profit organisation incorporated in England, with the “global ambition” of bringing all lawyers working in intergovernmental organisations committed to finance or development under one umbrella. That was in 2017. Today we have a membership base of over 400 lawyers, working in almost 20 intergovernmental organisations around the world.
We are all volunteers, doing this work in our spare time, and are always looking for people who may be interested in getting involved, be that as a coordinator for one of the practice groups, helping with the newsletter that is for members only, or in any other capacity. First you need to become a member. Once you are, and want to get involved, please let us know by clicking here.
The legal stuff…
ALIFDO stands for Association of Lawyers in Intergovernmental Finance and Development Organisations (ALIFDO) Limited, a private company limited by guarantee, established under the Companies Act 2006, with its registered office in England and Wales, United Kingdom.
ALIFDO is a membership-based non-for profit entity. We are completely independent from any intergovernmental or other organisation. The people involved in the governance of the organisation do so on an entirely voluntary, non-remunerated basis. Membership is individual.
